Newry Street Richmond
Newry Street Richmond
Complete, 2014
Inspiration for this apartment complex was drawn from Richmond’s rich industrial history and the building’s existing warehouse shell, which was reinstated and transformed to create a base for a contemporary top level extension.
Featuring 21 residences, the existing lower two levels of the four-level brick warehouse were restored to comply with heritage planning guidelines, with many areas of the warehouse needing to be rebuilt to ensure it was structurally sound.
Providing a strong contrast to the brick below, bold metal finishes were chosen for the upper two apartment levels, largely influenced by an Urban Industrial context.
Original warehouse details such as the former steel frame windows have been used to craft the windows, eaves and balconies throughout the complex to create a unified finish.
