Low Head

Inspired by the rocky outcrops and formations of its highly sought after beachside location. This family holiday home was skilfully designed to naturally fit within its surroundings - a sculptured form against a sand dune backdrop.

Created to ensure minimal impact on the unique environment, the four-bedroom, single storey home has been carefully constructed on the Low Head sand dunes. Floor to ceiling windows maximise northern light and the impressive views over the picturesque River Tamar.

The Tasmanian location, which experiences cool winds and high levels of salt water weathering, demanded mindful consideration of materials and features. Non-corrosive elements such as treated metals, hardwoods, concrete and glass were deliberately chosen to ensure the home would withstand the climate, with the low profile design minimising wind impact.
