Designed to house a sophisticated and fine Asian dining restaurant, inspiration for this space was taken from the restaurant name itself – Mahjong Black.
Darker tones were used to create intimacy and reflective ambience in certain areas of the restaurant, whilst a long, concrete bench top over the bar creates a feeling of space.
The brief was to produce a restaurant that was predominately open plan, but with intimate set areas to separate the main dining room from the bar and private dining areas. This was done through the careful selection of design features, with each area having a separate presence and identity through the choice of materials, colours and lighting.
