Edward Street

Restoration, transformation and renovation of an old corner store called Clifton House built in 1890 with heritage listing. The 2 storey, 3 bedroom dwelling has been given a new lease of life with restoration of the exterior to its former glory, complimented with a modern and contemporary industrial interior.

Design philosophy exposes the raw and rough history of the building in a neat, refined and controlled manner. Interior layout was rearranged to provide 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom layout, encompassing polished concrete, exposed bricks and low embodied energy fit out.

Challenged with the unknown of what was potentially hidden behind the walls, only necessary parts were stripped away to maintain the integrity and charm of the building. Encountered with daily graffiti to external walls, inspiring the client to embrace the concept, finding a local artist to cover the ground floor façade with a unique piece of art.
